In The Ring Two, Rachel is forced to research the story of Samara Morgan after her son suffers from a mysterious ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller, an investigative journalist who is requested by her sister Ruth to investigate the mysterious circumstances behind her niece Katie's death. Rachel reveals to Rachel that she found Katie's disfigured body in the closet and the reason for her death was a heart attack despite Katie being an incredibly healthy teenager. Katie's friends tell Rachel the story of the cursed videotape legend and Katie's friend Becca is in a mental institution for watching Katie lose her life. Rachel also discovers that Katie's boyfriend and two of her buddies suffered fatal accidents the same night around 10 PM. Rachel is taken to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she is in Cabin 12. The cabin in question is one in which Katie as well as her fellow guests saw the cursed tape. Rachel finds the mysterious tape and starts watching it, after which the phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel is called Noah Clay as a video analyst by her ex-boyfriend. Rachel is later informed that Aidan (her son with Noah) saw the tape and informed her that he believed in her. Rachel investigates the tape in order to determine the whereabouts of the lighthouse. It was located on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan who was cursed as a horse breeder, appeared on the tape. Rachel uncovers that Anna had an adoptive daughter named Samara. She was adept at creating horrifying images in the minds of humans, animals and other objects. Rachel is introduced to Anna's widower Richard Richard, however, he demands her go when she begins to ask questions about Samara.
