It was in the month of May that Garena launched its Garena Premier League (GPL) which is a six-month online professional gaming league with over 100 matches scheduled that will be held. GPL's first season is an online League of Legends tournament with six professional teams. Each team is comprised of the best players in their respective countries. GPL matches and commentaries are streamed online. The public can view them via the GPL website. In January of 2013, Garena confirmed it would begin the Garena Premier League's second season began on January 4, 2013. Garena Premier League, 2013 includes two teams of Taiwan and Vietnam. There are eight teams has now been increased to nine. These teams include: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) and Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) and Manila Eagles(Manila), Taipei Assassinsand Singapore Sentinels. The Garena E-Sports Stadium, a venue for esports is a venue that was inaugurated in November of 2014, in the Neihu District of Taipei. The studio opened in November 2014, which coincided with the opening of the League of Legends Masters Series. It's the top LoL Taiwanese with Hong Kongese as well as Macau LoL League that was created from the GPL. Garena has started the Iron Solari League - a League of Legends competition for females in the Philippines beginning in January 2015. It is a monthly event which is played in the second part of every month. This event is intended to increase participation for minorities, and is accessible to all who identify as a woman. Garena doesn't just host tournaments but also offline gatherings and other events that permit users to meet. Garena also hosts the Garena carnival that is held annually in Singapore and Malaysia.
